I use Lotus Notes to Get Things Done
Getting Things Done or GTD is a methodology
created by David Allen aiming to help individuals achieve higher productivity,
i.e. be able to complete all the daily tasks and still have (at least some)
life left.
I've heard about GTD a couple of years
ago, but being a person who doesn't like to be told how to live and organize
own life, I mainly ignored it. But recently, I started to feel overwhelmed
with all of the daily chores and remembered GTD.
Two fundamental principles attracted
me to the GTD:
- You must move tasks from your head and record them externally. Thus, your brain will no longer need to remember all kind of static data and will instead be able to use all available thinking power on solving or performing those tasks.
- You must not allow urgent things to get ahead of important things.
GTD as a methodology can be implemented using many different techniques, from paper and pen to elaborate computer programs. I am a Lotus Notes user, so it was natural for me to look for a solution based on Notes. Fortunately, there is a great solution for Notes called eProductivity. I won't waste your time by describing it, I'll just say this - you don't need to know anything about GTD to use eProductivity. It is really so logical and user-friendly application. Go to the eProductivity site at http://www.eproductivity.com/ and check their video tour to see it in action. You may also wish to visit the official GTD site for more in-depth info on the methodology itself.
